What we mean by custom cabinets.

A lot of cabinets sold as custom come off a factory line. Sizes go up in three-inch steps, finishes come from a sample deck, and filler strips cover the gaps where your walls don't match the catalog.

We build each piece for one wall in one home. It's made in our own shop and sized to your room, your appliances and the way you use your drawers. Having our own shop is why our kitchen remodels don't sit for months waiting on a factory order. We also take cabinet work on its own, for closets, media walls, libraries, bathroom vanities or a single piece of furniture.

What we build

Kitchens, closets, built-ins and vanities.

Kitchens

Flat-panel, shaker and transitional kitchen cabinets. Islands, pantries, panel-ready appliances and drawer interiors planned around what you actually keep in them.

Closets & wardrobes

Walk-in and reach-in closets measured around your actual wardrobe, with lighting, hardware and finishes that match the room.

Built-ins & media walls

Libraries, window seats, home offices, fireplace surrounds and media walls, built to look like they came with the house.

Vanities & furniture

Bathroom vanities built for your plumbing and countertop, plus one-off furniture like dining tables, consoles and headboards.

Our cabinet shop

We build our own cabinets.

Most contractors order cabinets from a factory and wait in line. We build them in our own shop, to your exact measurements, while the city reviews your permit.

  • Made to fit your walls, with no filler strips
  • No factory backlog holding up your project
  • Built and installed by our own crew
  • Kitchens, bathroom vanities, closets and built-ins

Cost

How cabinetry pricing works.

We price custom cabinets by scope, material and finish, and quote after design. There's no dealer between you and the shop, so you see the real cost.

What drives the cost.

  • MaterialPainted MDF doors, rift-cut white oak and walnut veneer sit at different price points. We'll show you samples and tell you where each one is worth the money.
  • FinishA sprayed lacquer and a natural oil finish take different amounts of shop time. The finish is usually the first place cheap cabinets show wear.
  • Hardware & mechanismsSoft-close is standard on our cabinets. Pocket doors, lift systems and interior fittings are options we choose for each use.
  • Scale & complexityLinear footage matters, but complexity matters more. Curved fronts, built-in lighting and grain matched across a whole wall all take extra shop hours.

FAQ

Custom Cabinetry & Millwork questions, answered.

Call us: (424) 455-6464
What's the difference between custom and semi-custom cabinets?
Semi-custom cabinets come off a factory line in set size steps with a fixed list of finishes, so your room has to fit the catalog. Custom cabinets are designed and built for your walls, appliances and storage. Ours are custom, built in our own shop, and you approve the shop drawings before we cut anything.
Do you only build cabinetry for your own remodels?
No. The shop also takes standalone work like closets, media walls, vanities and furniture, with no construction project needed. Kitchen cabinets usually turn out best when we also do the remodel, because we plan the room and the cabinets together.
What materials do you work with?
Quality plywood and MDF, solid hardwoods and natural veneers, including white oak, walnut and others depending on the project. We'll show you physical samples and tell you where each material is worth what it costs.
How long does custom cabinetry take?
A typical room takes several weeks in the shop after you approve the drawings. On our remodels we build the cabinets while the permit is in review, so you skip the long wait most people expect with custom cabinets.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. You get a written 2-year workmanship warranty on the cabinets and the installation. If a door or drawer needs adjusting later, you call us directly and we take care of it.
How are payments scheduled?
The deposit is capped by California law at $1,000 or 10% of the contract price, whichever is less. After that, your contract lists progress payments tied to completed milestones, and under the CSLB rules a payment may not exceed the value of the work done or the materials delivered. Each payment comes with lien releases. Nothing is billed ahead of the work.
What is a change order and an allowance?
Your contract has one fixed price, a written schedule, allowances listed line by line and a 2-year workmanship warranty. An allowance is the budget line for an item you have not chosen yet, such as tile or a faucet; when you pick it, the difference is settled in writing. A change order is a written agreement you sign before any extra work starts, with the change in scope, price and schedule. The price only changes if you change the scope.
Which inspections will happen?
Permitted work is inspected before it is covered and again at the end. The LADBS Homeowners Guide describes groundwork, rough and final inspections, and your project manager schedules each one and tells you the day before. When the cabinets are part of a permitted remodel, the room's rough and final inspections apply. For cabinets installed on their own, we tell you at the estimate whether any part of the job, such as new wiring for under-cabinet lighting, needs a permit.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Kasimov Construction is a licensed California general contractor, CSLB #1148319 (Class B), bonded and insured. You can verify the license on the CSLB website, and we send certificates of insurance before work starts.
